In The Dog of Pompeii, the character of Tito, a blind orphan, and his dog, Zeus, experience the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.. Based on the short story of the same name by Louis Untermeyer, which was supposedly crafted upon the fact that the petrified remains of a dog supposedly were discovered in the ruins.
