"NOH8: Is It Real Now?" (2011) A music video of sorts, this compilation, called NOH8: Is It Real Now?, considers the current American status of gay marriage in 2011, as well as acceptance in general for the LGBT community. Relevant and meaningful, nearly every clip and image shown displays key figures and historical events in the timeline for progression of equal rights. One particularly significant event that occurred less than one week following the completion of NOH8: Is It Real Now?, was the end of the policy in America known as Don't Ask Don't Tell. Garett's basic idea for editing this project was to reinterpret a popular song from Australia, and present with that a series of video, stills and animations to depict how harmless, peaceful and loving the LGBT communities of America actually are. It also suggests that the only resistance is being fueled by conservative outsiders who are unwelcoming of inevitable change. © Thomas Productions |
